Microsoft Outlook 2010 beta

January 5, 2010 Leave a comment

is a buggy program.
i should have stuck with the 2007 version.

Some common problems that the 2010 Outlook will display are

  • Unable to start up on the first time, will crash and give error alert.
Solution: Start it the second time after the error alert, seems to work.
  • Cannot sync with some email accounts.
Solution: Have yet to find one, use web browser interface to check mail?
  • Slow and laggy. Gives a buggy overall impression.
Solution: I don’t think it’s my computer, Outlook 2007 was fine.
  • Crashes frequently. I’m trying to send a new email and it just crashes.
    Solution: Use web browser interface.
  • Crashes when i try to turn off the program. Lags entire computer.
Solution: None. Don’t use this program?

Maybe the reason for the program to be so buggy is that it’s in the beta stage.
I feel that it has too many rough edges even for a beta program.
There is however, one good point that i have found for the Outlook 2010.
When i shutdown the computer without closing Outlook,
it will not force me to end task for Outlook as in 2007. It will just close.
When i open Outlook again, it will not say that Outlook did not shutdown properly.
No more data check. This is great as it allows for quicker shutdown.

The new user interface of Outlook 2010 will require some getting use to.
I personally prefer the 2007 layout as it seems more organized
and i can find everything that i want on the main tab.
