DIY: Smith & Wesson M645 Replica
Check out my Smith & Wesson M645.
Looks like the real thing, other than the size which totally exposed it.
Because of the size, it now looks like a toy gun.
But it was a toy gun to begin with. Got it at Daiso a few months back. Manufactured by Tiger and said to be made in Japan. It’s made of clear plastic and comes in different colours. Mine was in blue and green. They were intended to be water pistols but they were poorly constructed. The pump could not take the continuous firing of an adult and soon lost the ability to shoot water. Clearly it was made for kids (thus the size).
Transforming it from a clear plastic toy gun to a replica was quite a simple process. First, spray the gun with silver spray paint. Remember to use newspaper and make the gun stand with laundry clips. It took about 3 to 4 coats and took up a whole day to complete. For spray painting, i only use nippon paint which is one of the more expensive paints out there in the market. Try not to skimp on the paint as better quality paint will be thicker and sticks to the item, cheaper paint would flow and drip. This would save time and effort. Remember to have something to spray on. Don’t spray on your floor and walls. Use newspaper or cardboard boxes. Next, get a black paint marker and colour the handle portion of the gun. This is a quick and easy way but it does give a poor uneven finish. I think the next easiest way to do it and get a better finish would be to use a paint brush but you’ll have to be very accurate so as not to over paint. A marker would give more control than a brush. If you’re really skilled, you could tape up the entire gun with masking tape and spray the handle black. This would most probably give the best finish, but it also has the most work.
Overall, it was quite a easy job. Fun and simple.
Now i have my own double ballers.
